Ibiza is synonymous with hedonistic tourism. Blue and white island under the sun that takes on a new life in the light of the moon. Rather than talking about Ibiza it's better if you come and live it for yourself. By day, deserted coves of turquoise waters, dense forests, breathtaking cliffs, food, culture, tranquility. At night, let yourself go to the rhythm of the music played by the best DJs on the planet. Don't hesitate and come to the Pityussa island. This is the life.
To reach the island, there are two options: ship or plane. Once in Ibiza, you can move around by bus or taxi but it's best to walk around the white streets. There are also sea routes that will take you to Formentera or around the island.
Ibiza's capital is situated on a mountain surrounded by an Arab wall that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A tour inside the wall will allow you to enjoy the narrow streets that make up the historic part called Dalt Vila. Here you'll also find the Castillo, the City Hall or the Cathedral and you can enjoy the wonderful views over the city and the sea. Portal de ses Taules and its drawbridge are the main entrance to the walled city. This area has signs that indicate the route through the old part of town. The island is surrounded by numerous virgin and magical creeks such as Cala d'Hort, some less frequented as Pou de Lleó and larger and familiar ones such as Es Figueral. Ses Salinas and Es Cavallet are protected natural areas that still preserve their dunes. In Ibiza you can also enjoy all kinds of sports in the nature such as diving, hiking or horse riding. In the caves of Ses Fontelles you'll find some ancient and impressive paintings. The marina and the promenade are also areas you should visit because there's where the trendy bars are, the terraces to have a drink and, ultimately, much of the nightlife of the island.
Each year, the second weekend of May, they celebrate the declaration of Dalt Vila as a World Heritage Site. For three days, the old town becomes a huge medieval festival with music and artists. On June 23rd, they celebrate San Juan's night, the summer solstice, with a big party on the beach and a fireworks display. From 1st to the 8th August, the Festes de la Terra are celebrated because the 8th is the day of the patron saint of Ibiza. And, of course, the partygoers have to check the party calendar not to miss the opening parties of the season and the other ones to be held during summer in the major clubs on the island.
Ibiza's fashion, known as Adlib fashion, is becoming more and more famous. Its key features are the white color, the use of natural materials and the handcraft. You can find it all over the island. The area of the Cathedral and Villa beach are known for its craft markets. In the old part of town, you'll find mostly craft shops. In the summer, the Punta Arabi Hippy Market is organized and there you'll find all kinds of craft products as well as objects from far corners of the world. In addition to this market, others are organized throughout the island such as Es Canar every Wednesday morning. The port area is best known for its large concentration of shops of different brands.
As you might imagine, the cuisine from Ibiza is based on fish and seafood. You can also taste some delicious robellones, mushrooms from the forests of the island. Some of the typical dishes of the island are the bullit and the guisat de peix. After lunch, nothing beats a Ibizan herbal liqueur to wash the food down. By the way, besides being able to taste these delicacies, where else can you eat with your bare feet buried in the sand?
The weather in Ibiza is perfect all year long as temperatures are usually mild. Each season has its own charm. From May to October, it's the perfect time to enjoy the beach in all its aspects, while during the cooler months, you can take a walk by the sea, hike or enjoy the winter sun.
Treat yourself. Come to Ibiza and enjoy music, dancing, nature in its purest form, everything you wish for you will find on the island Pityussa.
